Beltsville Small White Turkeys
Breed Information
Beltsville Small Whites are a pure white turkey that was developed in the 1930s to be a size that could reasonably fit in an oven for cooking, as opposed to most other turkey breeds which can be a logistical nightmare to try to cook. The toms average 21lbs and the hens average 12lbs. As an added bonus, they are also strong egg layers (the breed goal is 150 eggs/year).
This heritage breed was recognized by the APA in 1951 and has the ability to naturally reproduce.
Our Flock & Update for 2023 Season
We're fortunate enough to be able to trace the history of our flock back through multiple quality breeders and across many generations.
This breed had been declared extinct in the US by the Livestock Conservancy. Thankfully Cirrus Hill in Ontario has been championing the Beltsville Small White in Canada since 2002 but recently retired from poultry and has distributed her breeding flock.
Our line came to Alberta from Cirrus Hill in 2014 and was maintained as a closed flock by another Alberta breeder who was also working towards the APA's Standard of Perfection. This breeder also retired which is why we were fortunate enough to find such high quality breeding stock. We are dedicated to not only maintaining the high quality of this breed but also to continual improvement.
